From Concept to Global Stage: Cuemái's Journey

Date:

6/27/24

If someone told me three months ago that my project would be showcased around the world, I wouldn’t have dared to believe it. Yet here I am, reflecting on an incredible journey filled with unexpected opportunities and powerful connections. In the past months, Cuemái has become more than just a concept; it’s a story that resonates across cultures. Seeing people genuinely reaching out, writing about it, and sharing their thoughts has been nothing short of a cathartic experience.

When someone first approached me, genuinely moved by the story behind it and amazed by the volume of byproducts in the tequila industry, I felt a profound mix of humility and gratitude. That first display opportunity in Munich, made possible by Studio Nima, opened doors I hadn’t anticipated, and from there, interest has continued to grow, with people reaching out and writing about it.

An invitation to the Innovation Hub followed, extending from connections made during our grad show at CSM. Seeing the project mentioned in various media, including an article in Grazia magazine, has been nothing short of exhilarating. Just as I thought the whirlwind was calming down, I was approached for an interview by a NABA student in Milan; a meaningful experience that made me pause and appreciate every step of this journey.

These experiences have shown me the potential of innovative materials and how sustainability, when rooted in tradition, can evoke strong emotional responses. I’m excited to see where this path leads next, and grateful for every opportunity to bring a piece of Mexico to the global stage. With each new opportunity, it’s thrilling to imagine where this path may lead next, especially as new possibilities for Cuemái continue to unfold on the horizon.
